The upper surface has a hard solid glaze which is heat-treated making it very hardwearing and this protects the artwork of the Summer Gold design. The hardboard centre of these popular placemats is an impressive 5mm which means each tablemat feels strong and sturdy. It is this thickness that prevents the heat generated by your plates from penetrating to the surface of your kitchen or dining table. The base has a soft corkbacked layer which keeps your cherished furniture free from scuffs or abrasions.

The measurement of these rectangular placemats is the usual UK size of 29.2cm x 21.6cm (11.5 x 8.5 inches) which is appropriate for holding all sizes of dinner plates. Each cork backed coaster has the same timeless country scene as the matching place mats and they are just as easy to care for. You only need to wipe them clean with a damp cloth or sponge and then gently dry the coaster or placemat with a soft dishcloth or teatowel.

To keep your placemats and coasters looking fresh and spotless for years, you must not put them in either the dishwasher or microwave and do not immerse them in water. Designed for domestic use, these tablemats are fine with temperatures up to around 100ºC. This would be more than enough for your usual dinner plates, but they are not designed to handle the heat generated by pans or dishes taken directly from the hob or the oven.
