The top surface of the Plymouth Pottery coasters is hard and has been heat treated with a sealed, glazed layer to protect the White Poppies printed art work. The centre of each drinks coaster is formed from pulped wood and is 0.5cm thick which gives them a really solid, sturdy feel. Made to prevent the marks or rings left by wine glasses and coffee cups from spoiling the surface of your precious furniture.

It is this thickness that prevents the heat generated by your tea cup or coffee mug from penetrating through to the surface of your table. This is a particular problem with wooden, varnished surfaces because the heat from the mug or cup ends up leaving an annoying white blemish. The corkbacked underneath of the coaster is finished with a thin layer of soft cork this prevents any scratches or marks.
