Rigid, strong coaster set

Traditional melamine coasters by Plymouth Pottery are made in the UK with a very hard and strong melamine surface, a hardboard middle for rigidity and a soft cork base to stop your furniture from getting scratched. These melamine coasters are very versatile and can be used in formal dining situations or they can be casually placed around the home, to be conveniently slipped under a hot mug or ice cool wine glass.

Perhaps often under rated, the role of the humble coaster is fundamental in protecting your desk, table or coffee-table from the water rings and heat stains that so quickly occur; particularly on varnished wooden surfaces.

Once the surface of your furniture has been damaged it's not very easy to buff out these stains. Prevention is much more straightforward and using a set of simple drinks coasters is not too difficult.

Tabletop protection

Perhaps the most useful aspect of having drinks coasters, UK made, with a hard melamine top surface is their resilience to damage from water and general moisture, which is the biggest threat to the appearance of coasters. Overtime standard coasters will eventually show marks and stains underneath the top surface.

This is inevitable when first heat and then moisture is repeatedly applied to the surface of the coaster. With the best will in the world this moisture is not always wiped off straight away. The benefit of melamine is their heat resistance of 150ºC means hot mugs do not weaken this hard surface, keeping the top layer intact and therefore water resistant for a much longer period of time.

Wiping them clean with a damp cloth is the best method of preserving your melamine coasters and ensuring they will provide you with many years of elegant usage.
