The hard solid glaze on the upper surface, which is heat-treated making it very hardwearing, protects the artwork of the Plymouth Pottery Hungry Cats design. The hardboard centre of these popular tablemats is a solid 5mm thick which means each tablemat feels strong and sturdy. This thickness prevents the heat generated by your plates from getting through to the surface of your cherished kitchen or dining table. The underneath has a thin soft corkbacked layer which keeps your furniture free from scuffs or abrasions.

Each cork backed coaster has the same scene of cats patiently waiting for their food as the mats, plus the coasters are just as easy to look after. You only need to wipe them clean of any spillages with a damp cloth or sponge and then gently dry the coaster or placemat with a soft teatowel or dishcloth.

In order to keep your place mats and coasters looking good for years, you must not put them in the microwave and definitely not the dishwasher and make sure not to immerse them in water. There is nothing more important than our planet, which is why all the Plymouth Pottery modern table mats and coasters are compliant with the existing EU and US environmental regulations that apply to cork backed table mats, including the relevant codes for processing renewable resources.

Designed for use in domestic environments, these tablemats are fine up to around 100ºC. This temperature would be more than enough for your typical dinner plates. However, they are not meant to handle the heat generated by pans or dishes taken straight from the hob or oven.
