The hard, glazed upper surface is hardwearing and protects the design of the Streets of London. The hardboard centre of the London tablemats is a solid 5mm thick which gives each tablemat a sturdy feel and more importantly prevents the heat generated by dinner plates from reaching your kitchen surface or dining table. The soft cork backing on the bottom keeps your furniture free of possible scratches or abrasions.

The UK standard size of these rectangular tablemats, 29.2cm x 21.6cm (11.5 x 8.5 inches) accommodates even the largest dinner plate. They are supplied as sets of 6 and come in presentation boxes with a transparent cellophane lid displaying the enclosed design.

With the Streets of London cork backed placemats, UK classic design each tablemat depicts one the famous London landmarks of St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Whitehall, Tower Bridge, Piccadilly and Westminster Bridge. Painted by Richard Macneil they capture the lively street scenes from around these iconic locations.

To accompany the Streets of London traditional placemats is a matching range of corkbacked square coasters. Each drinks coaster has the same stylish pattern and is equally easy to maintain by just wiping clean with a damp cloth or sponge and then wipe dry afterwards.

It is not a good idea to immerse the London themed tablemats and coasters in water and you must also avoid placing in the dishwasher or microwave. With the aim of helping to protect our planet, the Plymouth Pottery placemats and coasters are compliant with current environmental regulations applicable to cork backed placemats, such as the Harlequin design and including the various EU and US codes for renewable resources.

Targeted primarily for domestic use, these premium quality tablemats can withstand temperatures to around 100ºC which is more than enough for plates, but they are not appropriate for pans or dishes taken directly from the oven or the hob.
